Directions
to Williams Hall, Room 623
Recording will be done in the Phonetics laboratory of the Linguistics
Department at U of Penn. It is located in Williams Hall, on the North side
of Spruce and 36th Street (36th is a pedestrian walkway within the
university environs) The Phonetics Lab is in Room 623. As you enter
Williams Hall from 36th Street, take the stairs to the right to get to the
back set of the elevators. Take the elevator to the sixth floor, and turn
to the left. Go to the end of the Hall, turn right, and you'll find Room
623 on the right.
The University of Penn from Center City
Driving
There is a surface parking lot at 34th between Chestnut and
Market. If you are coming from Center City, on Market, turn left/south on
34th (one way street), and park at the surface lot on the right, at the
corner of 34th and Chestnut. ($8 a day)
If you then walk down 34th street to the corner of 34th and Walnut,
cross the street and take the pedestrian walkway through campus (Locust
Walk) to 36th (just after the Love Sculpture)
Williams Hall is on Spruce Street, though the entrance faces
towards the main campus area. There are signs advertising a café on the
sidewalk. The café is in the front area attached to Williams Hall.
SEPTA
The bus routes 12, 21, 40, 42, and LUCY (from 30th street station)
all run through campus, and all have stops within three blocks of 36th and
Spruce. The Green Line subway surface line also passes through campus,
with stops at 36th and Samson, and 37th and Spruce. (The conductor should
inform you which stops are University of Penn.)
