Subject: Preparing for the TDT PI Meeting
Date: Thu, 19 Feb 1998 22:12:24 -0500 (EST)

TDTers,

Since George will be out of town (and out of e-mail contact) until Monday,
I'm enclosing a couple reminders/requests regarding the PI meeting:

a. If you have not already done so, please be sure to send your site's
10 proposed topic definitions to Chris, Dave, and George by this Friday.

b. Before the meeting, please review the writeup that the LDC will be
sending out concerning their data collection and annotation procedures and
instructions.

c. At the meeting, each of the attending research sites (BBN, CMU,
Dragon, IBM, UMass, and UPenn) should make a prepared presentation
outlining the TDT work that it plans to do in 1998. Please indicate:

(1) Which of the TDT2 tasks (segmentation, detection, or tracking)
you plan to work on.

(2) Whether or not you will be using your own speech recognizer.

(3) What approach(es) you will be trying.

(4) What experiments you will do before the TDT2 corpus is released.

Please aim for a 15-minute presentation (not including discussion time)
and bring 20 sets of slides.

d. Sites that have done some relevant experiments since October will
be given extra time to describe them.

It should be a good meeting.

Charles
