Leftist rebels freed an ailing American woman after holding her hostage
for a month in rugged jungles south of the capital but still held
two other Americans abducted while on a bird-watching tour. Louise
Augustine, 63, a former nun and retired teacher from Chillicothe,
Illinois, was turned over by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia,
or FARC, to a government and Red Cross commission near this town,
60 miles (100 kilometers) southeast of the capital, said Carlos Batallas,
an International Red Cross representative.
