nasa announced today that senator john glenn the first american to
fly in earth orbit will go back to space in october abored the shuttle
discovery. glenn will be 77 by that time. the oldest living person
to fly in space. the u.s. senator from ohio offered himself for potential
research on aging. which he said would be valuable because he was
extensively studied before and during his last trip in 19626789 nasa
said glenn will be trained as a payload specialist who will help perform
experiments. nasa's administrator has also cleared the way for a space
flight by barbara morgan a 46-year-old elementary school teamp from
idaho. morgan had been the scheduled back up for christa mcauliffe
who was killed in the 1986 challenger disaster.
