PRI19980211.2000.0120 NEWS TRANSCRIPT attorney general janet reno has requested an independent counsel to investigate allegations of misconduct by intieror secretary bruce babbitt in rejecting a proposed indianian casino in wisconsin. reno asked that the investigation focused on whether babbitt misled the senate committee in sworn testimony as well as any other possible violations. republicans have charged that babbitt may have favored casino opponents to may have contributed to the democratic national committee. babbitt has denied any wrongdoing.
