PRI19980220.2000.0226 NEWS TRANSCRIPT a young enlisted woman cried on the stand today in the sexual misconduct trial of the army's former top enlisted man. from member station wamu in washington, julianne welby reports. sergeant christine roy was the lost of six women to testify against gene mckinney, who was removed as sergeant major of the army last year. the only woman to allege having sex with mckinney, roy discussed graphic details of how he allegedly forced himself on her in his home when she was eight months pregnant. roy also testified that mckinney had made sexual advances on the phone and during a business trip. mckinney is charged with adultery and maltreatment of a subordinate in roy's case. he faces a total of over 55 years in prison on 19 counts ranging from assault to obstruction of justice. mckinney had served on a panel investigating sexual misconduct in the military until one enlisted woman came forward a year ago. mckinney's lawyers claim all six female accusers concocted their stories. for npr news, i'm julianne welby in washington.
