This quick note now. Apparently Britain's financial times, normallyly
Bible of business types, is an early April fools' victim. Today Guiness
brewers put out a spoof press release announcing that it will become
the official beer sponsor for the grenwich observatory program in
the lead up to the millennium. As a result the beer makers wrote,
me. -- wrote, grenwich meantime will be renamed Guiness meantime until
1999. Well, the financial times ran with the story. British television
said, unlike most April fools, this one didn't fool just anybody but
the country's most serious and awe authoritative newspaper. As for
against, their success -- as for Guiness, their success reportedly
left them thrilled.
