Re Mandarin resources -- it is worth noting that
Donna Harman may have pointers to Mandarin text resources,
since TREC did Mandarin IR; also the MUC-style
Multi-lingual Entity evaluation (MET) focused on Chinese
for named entity extraction, and there are probably some
resources (segmentation and part-of-speech tagging software)
that may be available. BBN probably knows as much about the
MET resources as any group, since they worked on Chinese.
