Subject: Topic Detection Clustering Metric

The attached MS word file (and postscript version of it) present some
initial results for the evaluation of TDT2 detection results using a
cost-based clustering metric. The results are quite interesting and
also quite different from the TDT2 detection results. Please take a
look at these results and let Jon (who did the work) and me know what
you think. Note that these results are for a story-weighted version
of the metric. (But note also that a topic-weighted version of the
metric would be quite straight-forward to produce.)
