Subject: choice of ASR transcription for TDT evaluation

We have been asked to specify the "official" ASR transcription
that will be used for TDT evaluation. Currently there exists
both Dragon and BBN ASR output for the TDT2 corpus. Also there
currently exist index files that use Dragon ASR output, and NIST
will shortly make available index files that use BBN ASR output.
You are free to use either form for the September dry run. Note,
however, that only BBN ASR output will be available for the formal
TDT3 evaluation this Fall. You are free to use either version, or
both, for the September dry run. It would be nice, however, to be
able to make cross-site comparisons on the same data. So please
let us know which version you intend to use. (Note that BBN does
not provide confidence output, so if you would like to use this
feature then you will need to use Dragon data.)
