There seems to be excess residual entropy in terminology usage, so
let me try to clarify. For purposes of TDT at least:

* A CONDITION is simply a restrictional or selectional constraint
placed on data to be processed and/or analyzed.

* A TOPIC, for the topic tracking task, is defined by the specified
set of (training) stories that discuss it.

* The TRAINING epoch is the set of stories that may be used by
a system to learn to do topic tracking for a given topic.
It is a function of topic and training language.
