Subject: TDT meeting in November

TDT folk,
As you're aware, the TDT evaluation meeting this fall is on November
16 and 17, starting at 3:30pm on Thursday the 16th. This meeting
follows almost immediately after TREC ends (3:00 on Thursday).
We have invited the TREC filtering community to attend the TDT
meeting, because of the similarities between filtering and tracking.
One of the filtering organizers will give a brief overview of TREC
filtering to the TDT folk, and we hope that the TREC filtering group
will learn something about tracking--and other TDT tasks.
TREC has graciously consented to open its normally-closed doors to TDT
participants to provide that nicity in reverse. TREC runs from Monday
through Thursday of that week. The main session dealing with
filtering will be on Thursday morning. TREC does not have a one-day
registration fee, but it might be possible for some people to sit in.
If you are planning to attend TDT and are interested in attending all
or part of TREC in addition, please contact me about the mechanics of
doing so.
