Folks,

The TDT2002 web site is now operational
(http://www.nist.gov/speech/tests/tdt/tdt2002/index.htm). The
documentation contains a schedule and an evaluation plan for this Fall's
evaluation. This year's evaluation features a new language, Arabic. In
order to prepare for the evaluation, a Dry Run Evaluation will be
conducted during July and a meeting will be held on July 23rd to discuss
the Dry Run and residual issues.

The LDC is in the process of preparing an Arabic supplement to the TDT3
corpus. The update will include Arabic newswire data and topic
judgments for 40 of the existing topics on the Arabic data. There is
not an established release date, however it will be soon.

After the LDC releases the Arabic data, I will prepare index files and
other documentation for the dry run. The dry run will use union of the
TDT3 corpus and the TDT3 Arabic supplement. If you have not obtained
the TDT3 corpus, get TDT3 Multilanguage Text Version 2.0, catalog
#LDC2001T58 from the LDC.

Regards,
Jon
