Automatic Content Extraction (ACE):Annotation Tools
LDC has developed a set of annotation tools for ACE. The tools utilize AGTK (the Annotation Graph Toolkit), a collection of software components that support rapid development of task-specific annotation tools. Designed with input from the annotation team, the ACE tool relies on color-coded underlining to display layers of annotation on spans of text. This is particularly useful in ACE where annotations are often multiply embedded or overlapping. The tool is highly specialized for ACE annotation, requiring users to record valid annotation decisions for one task before moving on to the next decision point, and includes customized modules for entity, relation and event tagging. AGTK tools are platform-independent and support multilingual annotation, including bidirectional text display (as in Arabic).
2005 Toolkit
A Windows version of the ACE 2005 Annotation Toolkit is available for
download here. This tool can be used to
view .ag.xml annotation files (LDC's native annotation format), to
create new annotations and to adjudicate dually-annotated data.
Previous Versions
A version of the 2004 ACE Annotation Toolkit is available here. This distribution includes binaries
for Windows, Linux and Solaris.
